Gobind Sagar Lake is a man-made reservoir that was built-in 1976 and the source of this lake is the hydel dam at Bhakra. Wildlife Sanctuary

Not many people know that the Gobind Sagar Lake and Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the districts of Bilaspur. This is basically 35 km away from Una in Himachal Pradesh. This is one of India’s largest and world’s highest gravity Dams and this was built on the bank of Gobind Sagar. 

In the year of 1976, the lake feed water to several states of North India. This spread over an area of 170 sq km and this place is the house of several birds. In fact, Himachal Pradesh permits fishing in the lake.

Water Sports At Gobind Sagar Lake

If you just love water adventure, then this place is perfect for you. During October and November, when the water level of the reservoir rises, a series of regattas are also organized by the Tourism and Civil Aviation department. You can enjoy some water-skiing, sailing, kayaking, and water scooter racing. Some of the major attractions of the lake of ferry rides and speed boating.

Fishing

This lake is very famous for fishing and you will get one of the freshest and tastiest fish ever. This makes about fifty-one species and subspecies of fish. This is supplied to bigger markets in Chandigarh and Delhi. Some common species found here are Tor Pitutrata, Mystus seen, ala, and Mirror carp.
